Dave Shuey

Climbing & Skiing Guide | Avalanche Educator

As a professional mountain guide and avalanche educator, I enjoy helping guests past their perceived limitations, with a goal of improving their own mountain sense and technical skills. Doing my best to serve up top quality ski lines or clean granite cracks to my clients, is always paired with the overarching principle of getting home safe.

I aim to be a liaison, mentor, advocate, and friend to the outdoor adventure community through guiding on rock, snow, and ice, teaching Leave No Trace principles, and continuing to seek professional development in the various guiding disciplines.

As an amateur climber, skier, and runner, my efforts are spent exploring our natural environments to broaden my own mountain skills. Each season brings a fresh take to a lifelong pursuit of improving my efficiencies while moving through the hills on a variety of mediums. While tagging summits and completing lines of ascent or descent in good style is always a goal, it is the journey and partnership with others that makes a life in the mountains truly worth pursuing.
